Lucknow, March 24: The Samajwadi Party (SP) on Sunday released the list of 40 star campaigners for the Lok Sabha Elections 2019. Akhilesh Yadav, Ram Gopal Yadav, Azam Khan, Dimple Yadav and Jaya Bachchan are included in the list. Interestingly, SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav’s name has not been included in the list. The SP, which won five seats in the 2014 elections, has announced to contest the 2019 elections in alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD). The SP will contest on 37, the BSP on 38 and the RLD on three out of the 80 seats in the state. Meanwhile, both SP and the BSP are not fielding a candidate from Sonia Gandhi’s constituency Rae- Bareilly and from Amethi where Congress president Rahul Gandhi is the sitting MP and will contest the general elections from here.

Till now Akhilesh-led party has announced 19 candidates for the parliamentary polls. The party president Akhilesh is contesting from Azamgarh, while, his wife Dimple has got the ticket from Kannauj. Meanwhile, the party has fielded former Uttar Pradesh minister Khan from Rampur.

There are a total of 80 Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh. The parliamentary polls in the state will take place in seven phases between April 11 and May 19. The counting of votes will begin on May 23.
