Lok Sabha Elections 2019: AIADMK, BJP, PMK, DMDK Divide Seats in Tamil Nadu, Check List of Constituencies
Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O Pannerselvam announced that AIADMK will contest 20 seats, which include South Chennai, Theni, Pollachi, Karur and Erode.
Chenna, March 17: Days after announcing an alliance for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) and the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK)announced the allocation of seats to each partner on Sunday. Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O Pannerselvam announced that AIADMK will contest 20 seats.
According to the list, the AIADMK will contest from Salem, Namakkal, Krishnagiri, Erode, Karur, Tiruppur, Pollachi, Arani, Tiruvannamalai, Chidambaram, Perambalur, Theni, Madurai, Nilgiris, Tirunelveli, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Chennai South. The BJP will fight on five seats - Kanyakumari, Sivagangai, Coimbatore, Thoothukudi and Ramanathapuram. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is India’s Daddy, Says AIADMK Minister KT Rajendra Balaji.
The PMK will contest on 7 seats - Dharmapuri, Villupuram, Arakkonam, Chennai Central, Dindigul, Sriperumbudur and Cuddalore. The DMDK will contest from Kallakurichi, Tiruchirappalli, Chennai North and Virudunagar. Puthiya Tamilagam has been allotted Tenkasi(SC), while the Puthiya Needhi Katchi will contest from Vellore. The All India NR Congress the lone segment in neighbouring Puducherry, Pannerselvam said.
The AIADMK had on February 19 inked poll pacts with the PMK and the BJP and allotted seven and five Lok Sabha seats respectively to them. The PMK will also be getting one Rajya Sabha seat as per the understanding.
MK Stalin led DMK has announced that it would contest from 20 seats in Tamil Nadu in the Lok Sabha elections, with the M K Stalin-led party finalising its seat-sharing agreements with all of its allies — a total eight of them. The DMK will lead a rainbow coalition comprising of the Congress, CPI(M), CPI, MDMK, VCK, IUML, KMDK and IJK. The Congress has been allotted the lion’s share of seats among the DMK’s allies, with the grand old party receiving nine seats in the state, besides the lone Puducherry segment.
Tamil Nadu will go to polls in the second phase on April 18. By-elections to 34 Assembly seats in 12 states, including 18 constituencies in Tamil Nadu, which could decide the fortunes of the ruling AIADMK, will be held simultaneously.
