Kolkata, March 31: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad on Saturday started a massive campaign in West Bengal to create awareness among the voters not to press the NOTA button in the electronic voting machines during the coming Lok Sabha polls.
The ABVP has planned street plays, graffiti, street corner meetings, as also a social media campaign to impress upon the voters that pressing the NOTA (None of the Above) button on the EVM amounted to wasting one's vote.
The campaign is part of a nationwide programme to reach the electors with three appeals. Lok Sabha Elections 2019 Schedule: Voting In 7 Phases From April 11 to May 19, Counting And Results On May 23; Check All Dates For General Elections.
"We would request them not to waste their votes by pressing the NOTA button.
"Everybody should ensure everyone casts his or her vote. Lastly, instead of opting for the NOTA, one should elect the available best candidate," said ABVP state secretary Saptarshi Sarkar.
