Counting of Votes Begins.

Kolkata, May 23: With the 71-day high-stake exhaustive festival of democracy coming to an end, the results of Lok Sabha elections 2019 is expected to be out by today evening. The counting of votes is expected to begin from 8 am onwards by the Election Commission of India (ECI). The outcome of polls in high-octane 42 parliamentary constituencies in West Bengal, along with other 500 seats spread across 28 states and 7 union territories is awaited. The live streaming of election results and updates could be viewed live on News 18 Bangla, via the embedded YouTube link further below.

Though the early trends are expected to emerge by 8:30 am, credible insight would be out after the Election Commission concludes the first round of counting of votes. With each hour of counting and declaration of whose leading in which constituency, would give a clearer picture around noon. With Election Commission already deploying over 8,000 poll officers for counting of votes alone in West Bengal, the results might not be delayed, unlike in Delhi and Jharkhand. Lok Sabha Elections 2019 Results LIVE News Updates

Among the main candidates on whom the eyes of voters would look for in West Bengal include Babul Supriyo and Moon Moon Sen from Asansol, Abhishek Banerjee from Diamond Harbour, Md Salim from Raiganj, Mimi Chakraborty from Jadavpur, Nusrat Jahan from Basirhat, Locket Chatterjee from Howrah, Arjun Singh from Barrackpore, Bharti Ghosh from Ghatal, and others.

As reports of violence, poll rigging, EVM malfunctioning and mud-sledging marred the Lok Sabha Elections in the state, a clear majority to TMC is not expected - as it was in 2014 Lok Sabha Elections. In the previous elections, TMC secured 34 seats, leaving 4 seats for Congress and two each for Left Front and BJP. Catch complete coverage of Lok Sabha Elections 2019 here.

Considering the political environment and teh exit poll predictions, the results of West Bengal would play a major role in deciding who would form the next government at the Centre - NDA or UPA. If BJP wins more than 10 seats, stakes are high the Narendra Modi would be sworn as Prime Minister again and if it disseminates below 10, then UPA might form the government.

However, it could only be said after in the evening after the counting ends who will cross the magic figure of 272 and Election Commission announces the results for Lok Sabha Elections 2019 on May 23.
