New Delhi, May 23: Validating the exit poll predictions, the early leads have shown the BJP-led NDA comfortably winning the Lok Sabha elections 2019. The initial results show BJP+ leading at over 300 seats. With the NDA surging way above the halfway majority mark, another term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been sealed. At 10 am, the trends showed 314 seats for the NDA, whereas, the Congress-led UPA was leading on 114 constituencies. Others or the non-aligned parties collectively totalled at 103.

The maximum leads for the BJP emerged from the Hindi heartland, where it has nearly retained all the seats it won in 2014. In Uttar Pradesh, where the party has suffered some losses, the damage has largely been curtailed as the early leads have projected victory for the saffron camp in at least 55 constituencies -- down from 73 in last elections.
For pollsters, the most shocking results emerged from West Bengal, where the BJP posed an almost neck-and-neck challenge to the Trinamool Congress. By the time this report was published, BJP and TMC were leading on 15 and 20 seats, respectively. The CPI(M), meanwhile, has been wiped out in the state.
Among major candidates, senior BJP leader and Union Minister Maneka Gandhi was trailing from Sultanpur at this hour. His Ministerial colleague and Ghazipur candidate Manoj Sinha was also behind his BSP rival Afzal Ansari. From Kannauj, SP president Akhilesh Yadav's wife Dimple Yadav is leading.
