Ranchi, December 18: Dinesh William Marandi of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Daniel Kisku from Litipara assembly seat in Jharkhand and became an MLA. The JMM will have support from the Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Of 81 seats, the JMM is contesting 43 while the Congress fights 31. Seven seats are left for the RJD. In the 2014 Jharkhand assembly elections, the BJP emerged as single largest party winning 37 seats. It formed the government with AJSU which bagged five seats. The Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) managed to win eight seats. However, six of their legislators joined the BJP in 2015. Elections for 81 assembly seats in Jharkhand are being held in five phases. The voting for the fourth phase concluded for 15 assembly seats in the state on December 16.
