Mumbai, June 4: As per the early trends, the INDIA Bloc, compromising of Congress, TMC, AAP, SP, etc., was fighting a tough fight and making significant gains against the BJP-led NDA as counting votes for the Lok Sabha Elections results 2024 is underway. As of 11:30 am, the INDIA Bloc led on 230 seats while NDA was ahead on 290. The Congress, which decimated to 56 seats in the 2019 general elections, is seen making a comeback by leading on 97 seats.
As per the official website of the Election Commission of India (ECI), the vote share analysis at 11:30 am, the NDA received 44% of the total votes polled, and INDIA Bloc 41%. The INDIA Bloc's performance seems to be better in Uttar Pradesh, where it was engaged in a neck-and-neck fight with NDA. The Congress-Samajwadi Party combo led in 42 seats, while the BJP was ahead in 37 seats. Another interesting trend to note was the Congress’s performance in Rajasthan, where it looks set to end its dry run. All the like-minded parties formed an alliance called the INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) Bloc in June last year with an aim to oust the NDA-led government. The partners in the INDIA Bloc are - Congress, Samajwadi Party (SP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Samajwadi Party (SP), Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray, CPI-M [Communist Party of India (Marxist)]. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK), and others.

The Janata Dal-United (JD-U), led by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who chaired the first meeting of opposition parties in Bihar's Patna, left the INDIA Bloc to make a "Gharwapsi" in NDA. Friendly Contest in INDIA Alliance
Despite sharing the table in the INDIA Alliance, several parties have locked horns in a friendly battle. It must be noted that while they fought in alliance in Delhi, Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) went separate ways in Punjab. A similar situation arose in West Bengal, where Congress and Trinamool Congress (TMC), despite being partners in the INDIA Bloc, fought separately.
In 2019, when the previous general elections results were announced, the BJP-led NDA coalition was voted back to power with an overwhelming majority with safforn party alone winning 303 seats. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the NDA secured a total of 353 seats, whereas the UPA won 93.
