New Delhi, May 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with his council of ministers, took the oath of office and secrecy on Thursday. The new Cabinet has several fresh faces as some outgoing ministers opted out of the next government and some were replaced. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah and former Foreign Secretary Subrahmanyam Jaishankar are most prominent first timers in PM Modi's cabinet.
Among 24 cabinet ministers, six have been inducted in the council of ministers for the first time. These include Amit Shah, Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank', Pralhad Joshi, Arjun Munda, Arvind Sawant and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. Besides, 13 new faces are among 13 Minister of States. These include G Kishan Reddy, Anurag Thakur, Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre, Debasree Chaudhuri, Kailash Choudhary, Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Rameswar Teli, Nityanand Rai, Rattan Lal Kataria, V Muraleedharan, Renuka Singh Saruta, Som Parkash and Angadi Suresh Channabasappa. BJP leaders including Nitin Gadkari, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, Dharmendra Pradhan, Prakash Javadekar and Smriti Irani who were a part of the first Modi government, also took oath as Cabinet Ministers.
