Ranchi, May 27: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav had given up food after the declaration of poll results on May 23 for two days. Yadav was disturbed over his party’s defeat in the Lok Sabha elections 2019. The RJD chief had his meal on Sunday after doctors pleaded him to have proper intake. The RJD president is undergoing treatment for blood pressure, sugar and kidney ailment at the Ranchi-based Rajendra Prasad Institute of Medical Sciences since December 2017. According to reports, Yadav’s health parameters are normal. This is the first instance after its inception in 1997, that the RJD could not win a parliamentary seat in Bihar but it's the second time in a row that it failed to open an account. Lalu Prasad Yadav-led party fought in alliance with the Congress, Vikassheel Insaaf Party, HAM (S), RSLP and CPI (ML). The RJD contested on 19 seats. In Bihar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won 39 seats out of 40, while the Congress managed to win only one seat. The saffron party registered a thumping victory in the Lok Sabha elections 2019. The NDA bagged 353 seats, while Congress-led United Progressive Alliance managed to bag only 91 seats. Narendra Modi will take oath at the Prime Minister of the country for the second consecutive time on May 30.
