Kavaratti, March 10: Ringing the polls bugle for the upcoming polls, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Sunday announced the dates for Lok Sabha elections. Notably, it's the 17th Lok Sabha elections. In the tropical island- Lakshadweep, the smallest Lok Sabha constituency in term of voters, elections will take place on April 11, 2019, in a single phase. Voting In 7 Phases From April 11 to May 19, Counting And Results On May 23; Check All Dates For General Elections.
Lakshadweep is a Lok Sabha constituency which covers this entire union territory. As of 2014, its the smallest Lok Sabha constituency in term of voters. In 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) won the constituency with 50.11 percent votes defeating Indian National Congress by a margin of 3.55 per cent. 2019 Lok Sabha Election Results Predictions: National Approval Ratings Expects Hung Verdict With BJP-led NDA Winning 247 Seats, UPA 171.

The current MP (member of parliament) from Lakshadweep is Mohammed Faizal P. P. In general polls 2014, Faizal defeated Congress' Sayeed by 1535 votes. The election was also contested by Samajwadi Party and Communist Party of India (Marxist). Before the union territory's first election, the MP was selected by President of India.
