Raipur, March 23: Congress candidate Jyotsna Charandas Mahant was elected as Member of Parliament from Korba Lok Sabha seat in Chhattisgarh. Korba Lok Sabha seat is one of the 11 parliamentary seats in the state of Chhattisgarh. Polling for Lok Sabah election in Korba constituency was held in the third phase of the general elections on April 23. Dr Banshilal Mahto of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) from Korba.
In Korba, the BJP fielded Jyoti Nand Dubey and Congress candidate Jyotsna Charandas Mahant. The process of filing nomination for Korba Lok Sabha election began from March 28. The last day for nominations was April 4. Scrutiny was done on April 5 and the last date for the withdrawal of the nominations was April 8. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP registered a stunning victory winning 10 out of 11 seats in Chhattisgarh, whereas the Congress was left with just one seat.
