Kochi, April 9: The health condition of Kerala Congress (M) chief and former state finance minister KM Mani deteriorated on Tuesday. KM Mani, who is undergoing treatment for chest infection at Kochi’s Lakeshore hospital, was hospitalised on April 4. The 86-year-old's leader is said to be critical since then. He is being under close medical supervision.
On Monday, the hospital in a bulletin said Mani's haemodynamic status remained stable. Mani has been suffering from COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) for several years and has frequently been hospitalised for chest infection, it added. He has been an MLA of Pala assembly constituency for 50 consecutive years.
Kerala Congress (M) is a key ally of the Congress-led UDF in the state. Mani, who was declared the party candidate for Kottayam seat for the April 23 Lok Sabha polls, was not seen in the election campaign due to frequent hospitalisation.
