Khamgaon is a city in Buldhana District and it is infact the largest town in Buldhana district. Akash Pandurang Fundkar is the sitting MLA of the constituency from the BJP party. A total of 3,239 candidates are in the fray for the October 21 assembly elections in Maharashtra for the 288 seats up for grabs. The Konkan Divisional Commissioner Shivajirao Daund has directed officials concerned to ensure all facilities for disabled persons and senior citizens during voting and to shun the use of plastic at the polling booths.

In the 2014 Maharashtra assembly elections, the BJP emerged as the single largest party winning 122 seats. A total of 95,473 polling stations will be set up for over 8.95 crore voters in Maharashtra. The term of the Devendra Fadnavis-led current Maharashtra Assembly will end on 9 November.
