The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partner Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) has fielded sitting MP Mehboob Ali Kaiser from Khagaria Lok Sabha constituency. Meanwhile, the Mahagathbandhan's Vikasheel Insan Party (VIP) has given a ticket to Mukesh Sahni from here. The last date of filing nominations for the seat is April 4. The scrutiny of nominations papers will take place on April 5. In 2014 elections also, LJP candidate Kaiser had won from  Khagaria Lok Sabha Constituency defeating Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Krishna Yadav with a margin of over 70,000 votes. Meanwhile, in 2009 elections, JDU candidate Dinesh Chandra Yadav had bagged the seat.

The Election Commission of India on March 10 announced the dates for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The general elections will take place in seven phases between April 11 and May 19, and the results will be declared on May 23. Along with Lok Sabha Elections, voting will also take place in this phase for Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Odisha Assembly Elections 2019.
