Tuensang, February 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed an election rally in poll-bound Nagaland to give a push to BJP's victory prospect in the state. The Prime Minister said that NDA government is giving special priority to the north-east and is making efforts to furthering prosperity in the Northeast. He said it is very important that Nagaland gets a strong and stable government who can work for the development of the state.
There are six assembly seats in Tuensang district in the eastern part of Nagaland. During his address, the Prime Minister said his vision for the Northeast is transformation by transportation. “We would ensure that the funds released for your state reaches you. With the help of technology, we will plug the loopholes which are causing wastage of public money”, he said.

1. During his address, PM Modi said that India is so diverse and yet united. “One realises the power of it when you come to Nagaland, says Modi. 'Ek Bhaarat, Shresth Bhaarat ki ek vihangam tasveer main aaj yahan dekh raha hoon,' says PM.
2. The Prime Minister promised that govt will ensure the money released from Delhi reaches Nagaland. “Promises to eliminate 'loopholes and leakages.'A PM of India had once stated that villages received only 15 paise out of Rs. 1 from the centre. With determination, we need to change this situation”, says PM Modi.
3. “Connectivity is a huge challenge in Nagaland. We are working relentlessly towards eliminating it. In less than 4 years, we have added 500 km of National Highways. We have also planned to invest more than Rs 10,000 crore in the roads of Nagaland”, says PM Modi
4. The Prime Minister said that the central govt made sure 10 lakh LED bulbs reached Nagaland to ensure there is more light and less expenditure for the people. ‘There has been a reduction of approximately Rs 50 crore in electricity bills across the state”, Modi added.
5. PM Modi spoke about the Ayushmaan Bharat programme and said that the National Health Insurance scheme would ensure a Rs 5 lakh cover for poor families. ‘Under National Health Mission, Nagaland has been provided Rs 400 crore’, Modi said.
6. Lauding the BJP government, Modi said that the government has approved construction of 8,500 houses in Nagaland. ‘For the construction of new houses and completion of old schemes for houses, we have decided to provide Rs. 160 crore to Nagaland’, says PM Modi.
7. ‘Energetic youth, creative women, innovative farmer and demographic dividend of Nagaland will help it scale new heights’, PM Modi said.
From Nagaland, the Prime Minister will go to Meghalaya to address a rally in West Garo Hills district, considered as the Congress bastion since statehood in 1972. The rally at Phulbari town will be Prime Minister's second campaign meeting in the state to drum up support for the BJP candidates in the assembly elections.
Both the northeastern states- Meghalaya and Nagaland will go to polls on February 27. For the first time, Verified Voter’s Paper Trail (VVPATs) will be used in the assembly elections in Meghalaya. As per details, BJP has fielded candidates on 47 seats out of a total of 60 in Meghalaya. The BJP is making a strong pitch in both the states to expand its footprints in the North-Eastern states after formation of its governments in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur.
