The 16th Lok Sabha Elections in Kerala is primarily a fight between Congress-headed UDF and the ruling CPI(M)-led LDF, with BJP trying to open its account in the southernmost state. According to most exit poll results, Congress may witness a sweeping victory in the state with CPI(M) gaining 7-8 seats. While BJP may or may not manage a seat in Kerala. However, according to some exit polls conducted by several agencies, the BJP is predicted to be leading in Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha seat, where Congress MP Shashi Tharoor is in the fray. Nationally, the exit polls have projected the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) returning to power at the Centre. While the polling ended in Kerala last month, the voting was marred with allegations and accusations of bogus voting. As CCTV visuals of fake voters surfaced, the Election Commission held re-polling in seven booths in two Lok Sabha constituencies, Kannur and Kasargod located in north Kerala went for re-polling on Sunday. The re-polling witnessed 85 per cent voting in the constituencies. 2019 Indian general election saw seven-phased polling between April 11 and May 19. In Kerala's 20 constituencies, a total of 227 candidates is in the fray, including 23 women in the 20 constituencies. Wayanad constituency has the maximum number of candidates (20) and the lowest is in Alathur in Palakkad district (6). Kerala has a total of 2.61 crore voters including 1,26,81,992 males, 1,34,64,688 females and 173 third gender voters. First-time voters in Kerala include 2.88 lakh in the age group of 18-19. A total of 24,970 polling stations were set up in the state.
Voting for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections for all the 543 seats was held in seven phases from April 11 to May 19, 2019. The counting of votes for Lok Sabha Elections 2019 is being held on May 23. The results will be held thereafter in the day.
