'Kerala and Varanasi Equal to Me', Says PM Modi in Post-Poll Reach Out From Guruvayur
The BJP had failed to open its account in Kerala in Lok Sabha elections 2019. Out of the 20 parliamentary seats in the state, the Congress-led UDF bagged 19, whereas, the Left Front retained 1.
Thrissur, June 8: In a post-poll reach out to Kerala after the landslide win in general elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the temple town of Guruvayur, where he prayed at the revered Sri Krishna temple and subsequently addressed a rally of BJP workers and supporters.
Reiterating his statesmanship, the PM said the electoral outcome from a particular region will not affect his model of governance. "Some pundits think that BJP could not open its account in Kerala but Modi is going there to thank people. What is in his mind? But this is our culture, our thinking," Modi said, adding, "Varanasi is mine, and Kerala is also mine. Both are equal for me."
Notably, the BJP failed to open its account in Kerala in Lok Sabha elections 2019. Out of the 20 parliamentary seats in the state, the Congress-led UDF bagged 19, whereas, the Left Front retained 1.
"We believe that elections have a place of their own but after elections the more important responsibility is towards the 130 crore citizens. Those who made us win our ours, those who did not make us win are also ours. Kerala is as much mine as is Varanasi," he further added.
Modi Commits All Form of Assistance For Kerala:
Earlier, Congress president Rahul Gandhi while addressing a roadshow in Wayanad, launched the first major attack on the Prime Minister following the crushing defeat in Lok Sabha polls.
Calling Modi a propagator of hate, the Gandhi scion said the Congress would eventually defeat the ruling compensation at the Centre which is thriving on hate, fear and polarisation.
"At the national level we're fighting poison. Mr Narendra Modi uses poison, I'm using a strong word but Mr Narendra Modi uses poison of hatred to divide this country. He uses anger and hatred to divide the people of this country. He uses lies to win election," Gandhi said, as slogans of 'Chowkidar Chor Hai' resonated from the gathering.
