Hyderabad, Sep 6: Hours after the dissolution of Telangana state Assembly on Thursday, caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao made a scathing attack on Congress president Rahul Gandhi and ruled out the possibility of an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Rao, popularly known as KCR, called Rahul Gandhi the 'biggest buffoon' and said the Telangana Rashtriya Samithi will win more seats if the Congress chief visits the state.
“Everyone knows what Rahul Gandhi is…the biggest buffoon in the country. The whole country has seen how he went and hugged Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament and winked,” KCR said at a press conference after Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan dissolved the state assembly, making the way clear for early polls. "He is a property for us, the more he comes (to Telangana) the more seats we will win," the TRS chief said.
Terming the Congress as the 'biggest enemy of Telangana', KCR said the decisions of Telangana should be taken in Telangana. He also dismissed rumours about aligning with a 'non-secular party like BJP for 2019 Lok Sabha elections. "TRS is a 100 per cent secular party. How can we join hands with the BJP," KCR said. While KCR maintained that the TRS will contest elections independently, he also called Asaduddin Owaisi's All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).
"We are going to contest election alone, but no doubt we are friends with MIM," he declared. Rao also announced a list of 105 candidates for Telangana assembly elections. Earlier today, the state cabinet passed a resolution for dissolution of the assembly at the meeting held at Pragati Bhavan, the official residence of the Chief Minister.
Immediately after the cabinet meeting that lasted for less than half hour, KCR drove to Raj Bhavan to meet the Governor. Minutes later, a statement was issued from Raj Bhava announcing that the Governor had accepted the cabinet recommendation to dissolve the Assembly.
