Jignesh Mevani, the independent MLA from Gujarat, who represents the Vadgam constituency in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, tweeted about a question asked in episode 16 of the popular TV quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati. The Amitabh Bachchan hosted show had a question for a contestant which had Jignesh Mevani as one of the four options along with Hardik Patel, Umar Khalid and Kanhaiya Kumar. On Tuesday, Mevani in a sarcastic tweet, took at dig at those who call the four as "anti-national" and shared an image of the question with the names of all the four options.

"It's good that in yesterday's episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati, it wasn't asked as to who among these is not an anti-national," said Mevani in his tweet.

The contestant, Rajkot's magistrate Ishita Mer, was asked the question and had to guess as to whose voice it was among the four given names. The correct answer was Kanhaiya Kumar. Jignesh Mevani has always been a vocal critic of the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In April, the leader was was 'detained' at the Jaipur airport. The Dalit leader was scheduled to deliver a lecture on Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar's political philosophy in Nagaur district of Rajasthan. Dalit rights' activist and independent legislator in Gujarat assembly, Jignesh Mevani had also lashed out at the BJP-led Maharashtra government following the arrests of activists in connection to Bhima Koregaon violence case, calling it an "attack on the Ambedkarite movement".
