Jammu and Kashmir, April 13: Just moments after Prime Minister Narendra Modi broke his silence on the Kathua rape case, two Jammu and Kashmir ministers from BJP have tendered resignation. The two BJP ministers in the Jammu and Kashmir government, Chandra Parkash Ganga and Lal Singh, submitted their resignations to state BJP president Sat Sharma on Friday evening. Speaking in New Delhi at the inauguration of the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial, PM Modi said that "Incidents being discussed since past two days cannot be part of a civilised society. As a country, as a society we all are ashamed of it. I want to assure the country that no culprit will be spared, complete justice will be done. Our daughters will definitely get justice"

The two ministers had participated in a protest march in Jammu’s Kathua district on March 4. They were demanding the release of a special police officer (SPO) who was accused of raping and murdering an eight-year-old girl. The country has been shocked by the horrific and brutal rape and killing of the 8-year-old. Chaudhary Lal Singh was the minister for forest, and Chander Prakash Ganga was the minister for commerce and industries and had attended an event organised by Hindu Ekta Manch. The outfit has been protesting against the arrests of the accused.
