New Delhi, July 24: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday clarified that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump never had any discussion on the Kashmir issue. The Defence Minister's clarification came after Congress continued to press its demand for an explanation by the government on US President Donald Trump's recent claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked him to mediate on the Kashmir dispute between India and Pakistan. Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Singh said that Prime Minister Modi and President Trump had met in June but said that External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar was present during the meeting. "The foreign minister is the most authentic voice on this matter because he was present when Trump and PM Modi met in Osaka and he has put his statement on record. "There was no discussion on Kashmir during the meeting between the Prime Minister and US President Trump in June. There is no question of any mediation on Kashmir issue as there can be no justification of it and it would also amount to the violation of the Shimla Agreement," he said.
