Karvir is one of the 288 Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) constituencies in Maharashtra. Karvir – constituency no. 275 – also happens to be one of the 10 Vidhan Sabha seats that fall under the boundaries of Kolhapur district. As per the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) instructions, the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019 are set to be single-phased, and hence Karvir will vote on October 21 too.
Chandradip Narke, who hails from Shiv Sena, is the sitting MLA from Karvir Assembly constituency. In 2014 Maharashtra Assembly Elections, he defeated his rival by over 50,000 votes. In 2009 Maharashtra Polls too, it was Shiv Sena’s Chandradip Narke who had won from Karvir constituency. Narke will also be fighting the 2019 polls from the Karvir seat apart from PN Patil of the Congress among other candidates.
As per the EC guidelines, the state of Maharashtra and Haryana will go to vote in a single-phase manner only, i.e. on October 21. The votes will be counted on October 24, and the results will be announced on the same day. The EC has announced that all the election-related procedures will be taking place before October 28, i.e. Diwali.
The EC has instructed that all senior citizens and specially-abled people should be given all the services and facilities for smooth conduct of polls. Also, one polling station in every Assembly constituency has to be women-only. It means all the election staff, police, and security personnel will be women members only. The current Maharashtra Assembly ends on November 9. Stay tuned to LatestLY for all the latest news and updates about Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019.
