Some people in the huge crowds at Rajaji Hall in Chennai have gone unruly. A clash has broken out between the crowd and the cops. The police have resorted to lathicharge.
Karunanidhi's body was kept at his Gopalapuram residence till 1:00 am where his family members and relatives paid last respect to him. His mortal remains were then taken to his CIT Colony residence. At 4:00 am today, his body was taken to Rajaji Hall where party cadre, the general public and political leaders can pay their respects.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi and several other politicians will attend the last rites of Karunanidhi.
Following the death of Karunanidhi, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation(KSRTC) suspended its services to Tamil Nadu. It must be noted that KSRTC operates 150-160 schedules during the night to neighbouring state Tamil Nadu.
Tamil Nadu will observe a week-long state mourning for the former chief minister. The Karnataka government has also declared a one-day state mourning for the DMK patriarch.
