New Delhi, November 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, talking on the Kartarpur corridor, and in a comment that can be viewed as an overture to peace with Pakistan, recalled the Berlin wall and said that “Kisne socha that ki Berlin ki deewar gir sakti hai. Shayad Guru Nanak Devji ke aashirwad se Kartarpur ka corridor sirf corridor nahi, jan-jan ko jodne ka bahut of pilgrims’ progress bada kaaran ban sakta hai (Who thought the Berlin Wall would fall. May be, with the blessings of Guru Nanak Devji, Kartarpur corridor will not only be a corridor but can be a reason to bring people together.” Pakistan PM Imran Khan to Inaugurate Kartarpur Corridor on November 28, Invites Navjot Singh Sidhu.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking on Friday at a function to mark the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev at the home of Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur in New Delhi, indicated that the diplomatic move can be a game changer when it comes to the relationship between the two neighbours (India-Pakistan). Islamabad's positive response to New Delhi's request to open a corridor for sikhs to visit Kartarpur Sahib, the final resting place of Guru Nanak Dev, are the first major signs of a thaw in India-Pakistan relations, especially after the cancellation of meeting of the foreign ministers of both nations.

However, the comment also comes a day after the Government of India on Friday registered strong protest with the Government of Pakistan on the issue of the Consular officials of the High Commission of India in Islamabad harassed and denied access on 21 November and 22 November, 2018, at Gurudwara Nankana Sahib and Gurdwara Sacha Sauda to the Indian pilgrims who visited Pakistan under the Bilateral Protocol.
