Kartarpur Corridor Opening: Punjab CM Amarinder Singh, MLAs Among Delegates to be Part of Inaugural Visit

Chandigarh, September 19: Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Members of Punjab Legislative Assembly (MLAs), the entire state cabinet as well as Central government representative along with journalists will flag off the first jatha (pilgrim group) and visit the Kartarpur Corridor on the day of its opening. External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar on Tuesday said the government was confident of meeting Kartarpur corridor deadline and the work on the same is moving in the right direction. "I think they are moving in the right direction and there is an expectation, there is a deadline, which we have to meet so we are confident of doing that," the EAM said during a briefing on the 100-day achievements of the MEA under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's second term in power.

The movement of people on the Kartarpur corridor will begin by November 11, 2019, as the work on the corridor will be completed before time, said a team of the Home Ministry officials. The team inspected the ongoing construction work for the Kartarpur corridor on the Indian side at Dera Baba Nanak at Gurdaspur in Punjab.
