Bengaluru, August 17: Rebel Congress legislator MTB Nagaraj, who was disqualified from the Karnataka assembly a day before the BS Yeddyurappa government took oath, is now the owner of Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII -- whose ex-showroom price in Delhi is Rs 9.5 crore. The vehicle is considered to be the most expensive car in India, and Nagaraj is reportedly the first Indian politician to buy it.

Nagaraj buying the ultra-expensive car, however, has not come as a surprise as he is considered among the richest politicians of the state. In the 2018 polls, he had declared total assets valuing above Rs 1,000 crore in the affidavit before the Election Commission. CM BS Yediyurappa Meets PM Narendra Modi, Seeks Rs 10,000 Crore Fund

"He was already a millionaire - but now fresh from his holiday in Mumbai, for where he took off for by a personal flight (remember), recently disqualified @INCKarnataka MLA @MTBNagaraj (centre right of photo) poses with this new Rolls Royce Phantom," said Congress leader Nivedith Alva.

Tweet by Nivedith Alva:

Nagaraj, along with 13 other Congress legislators, rebelled against the HD Kumaraswamy-led coalition government last month, which led to the government's de-stabilisation.

Kumaraswamy was forced to resign after his government lost the numbers. In the subsequent floor test called, Yediyurappa-led BJP succeeded to prove his majority in the House.
