Karnataka Urban Local Body Elections 2018 Live News Updates: Polling Underway, Kudachi Panchayat in Belagavi District Records 53.49% Voter Turnout

According to a report by Firstpost, the voting percentage of 14 urban local bodies in Belagavi district till 2 pm are as follows: The Gokak Municipal Council recorded 36.01% voter turnout, Chikkodi municipality with 43.81%, Ramdurg municipality -34.74%, Savadatti municipality with 47.28%, Bailhongal municipality with 42.06%, Sankeshwar municipality recorded 44.34% voter turnout, Moodlagiri municipality recorded 58.05% voter turnout till 2 PM, Kudachi panchayat reported 53.49% voter turnout, Hukeri municipality reported 50.33%, Sadalga municipality with 64.15%, Rayabag Pattan panchayat with 46.07%, Khanapur Pattan Panchayat with 48.07%, Konnur municipality with 46.26%, Nipani Municipal Council with 45.64% voter turnout till 2 pm.

According to a report by Firstpost, the polling percentage in Haveri district till 1 pm is as follows:

Haveri CMC recorded a voting percentage of 35.85 percent while in Ranebennur CMC, it was 36.56 percent. In Hanagal TMC, a voter turnout of 48.02 percent was recorded till 1 PM while in Savanur TMC, it was 46.35 percent and in Hirekerur TP, it was 47.85 percent.

Bengaluru, August 31: After being postponed by two days, the polling for the first phase of elections to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in Karnataka begun at 7 am on Friday. This is the first phase of elections to Urban Local Bodies in the state. Reports inform that all the three major political parties - the Congress, the JD(S) and the BJP have fielded their candidates. The polling will be held in the 2,574 wards in 105 local bodies on Friday. The counting of votes will be held on September 3, 2018.

The Congress can bank on Kalaburagi for its fortunes in the Hyderabad-Karnataka region as it looks to gain at least five out of eight constituencies.  Reports inform that campaigning for the multi-cornered elections to urban local bodies (ULBs) ended on Wednesday.

According to a report by The Hindu, with the postponement of elections to three ULBs in Kodagu district, elections would be held for 105 ULBs on Friday. The polls will be a crucial test for the coalition government in Karnataka ahead of the Look Sabha polls in May 2019.
