New Delhi, July 28: All 14 rebel MLAs who were disqualified by Karnataka Speaker KR Ramesh on Sunday said that they will challenge the speaker's decision in the Supreme Court on Monday, July 28, reported IANS. A day before floor test of B.S. Yediyurappa government in the assembly, Speaker disqualified 14 rebels of Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) for disobeying their party whips to attend the House on July 23. Earlier today, three other rebels- R Shankar, Ramesh Jarkiholi and Mahesh Kumathalli- also said that they will approach the top court.
The rebel legislators said that they would challenge speaker's decision in the Supreme Court as their joint petitions had sought its directive for accepting forthwith their resignations re-submitted on July 11 before the Congress and the JD(S) issued a whip to them to attend the session on July 23 and long before former Chief Minister H.D. The 14 MLAs include MTB Nagaraj, BC Patil, ST Somashekhar, Pratapgouda Patil, Shivaram Hebbar, R Roshan Baig, Anand Singh, BA Basavaraja, Munirathna, AH Vishwanath, K Sudhakar, K Gopalaiah, Shrimanth Patil and Narayana Gowda who has been disqualified till next assembly elections. The BJP staked claimed the power after JDS-Congress alliance led by former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy failed floor trust last week. Meanwhile, new CM BS Yediyurappa said that he will hold a floor test to prove majority in Assembly on Monday.
