Karnataka Political Crisis: Mayawati Asks Lone BSP MLA N Mahesh to Extend Support to HD Kumaraswamy During Floor Test
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Sunday directed her Party MLA N Mahesh to support HD Kumaraswamy. Earlier reports surfaced that Mahesh would not extend support to the Kumaraswamy government.
Bengaluru, July 21: Ahead of the floor test in Karnataka Assembly, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Sunday directed her Party MLA N Mahesh to support HD Kumaraswamy. A tweet from the official Twitter handle of Mayawati read, “The BSP supremo Mayawati has asked her party MLA in Karnataka to vote in favour of Kumaraswamy during the floor test.
Earlier reports surfaced that Mahesh would not extend support to the Congress-JDS alliance. Mahesh had said that received instructions from to abstain from the trust vote. “I had my personal work so I couldn't go to the session. My high command has told me to abstain from voting on trust motion so I won't attend the session on Monday and Tuesday. I'll be in my constituency,” reported India Today quoting Mahesh as saying.

Meanwhile, the trust vote in the Karnataka state assembly was delayed on Friday for the second consecutive day. KR Ramesh Kumar, the speaker of the Karnataka Assembly, delayed the floor test to Monday. BJP spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao also hit out at Kumaraswamy-led government over the delay in holding the trust vote, saying that discussion has been going on like a "test match".
