New Delhi, June 1: After emerging victorious in the Urban Local Body Elections 2019 in Karnataka on Friday, Congress alleged discrepancy in counting of votes by electronic voting machine (EVM) in the recently concluded Lok Sabha Elections 2019. Following a resounding win in the Urban Local Body Polls in the state, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said the party won the polls as all the EVM’s were under the scrutiny of the State CEO and not the Centre. Surjewala took to Twitter and attacked the Centre over discrepancy in EVM counting. "In LS polls, EVM’s under Central Elec Comm used. In ULB polls, EVM’s under State CEO used", Surjewala tweeted.

Meanwhile, Senior Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam also took to Twitter to share Congress' victory in the Karnataka Urban Local Body Elections 2019. Nirupam said, just after a week, the Congress has emerged victorious in the local body polls and BJP is nowhere close to it.

The Urban Local Body Polls in Karnataka were held on May 29, a month after Lok Sabha Elections ended. The counting of votes for the Karnataka Urban Local Body Elections 2019 took place on Friday. Of the total 1,361 seats, result for 1,221 seats was announced. Out of the total 1221 seats, the Congress won 509 while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) bagged 366 while the JDS won 174. In the Lok Sabha Elections 2019, the Congress-JDS combine was decimated by the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) in Karnataka. The BJP won 25 out of the 28 seats in the state and emerged victorious in the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls.
