Karnataka Government Formation: BJP to Stake Claim Soon as JDS-Congress Govt Loses Trust Vote, BS Yeddyurappa Likely to be New Chief Minister
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to stake claim to form the government. The BJP a tweet called it the victory of people of Karnataka. The saffron party hitting out at the Congress-JDS alliance said that an era of the corrupt and unholy alliance has ended.
Bengaluru, July 23: After Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) government lost trust vote during the floor test in the Karnataka Assembly, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to stake claim to form the government. State BJP unit Chief BS Yeddyurappa is likely to be the next chief minister of the state. Speaking to reporters, Yeddyurappa said, "It is victory of democracy. People were fed up with Kumaraswamy government. I want to assure people of Karnataka that a new era of development will start now."
The BJP in a tweet called it the victory of people of Karnataka. The saffron party hitting out at the Congress-JDS alliance said that an era of the corrupt and unholy alliance has ended. The BJP also promised to give a “stable and able” governance to the people of Karnataka. The saffron party tweeted, “It’s the victory of people of Karnataka. It’s the end of an era of corrupt & unholy alliance. We promise a stable & able governance to the people of Karnataka. Meanwhile, Kumaraswamy has submitted his resignation to Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala. In the trust vote, the Congress-JDS alliance received only 99 votes while the BJP got 105 votes. Nineteen MLAs were absent during the voting. However, Karnataka called confidence motion a temporary defeat for democracy. Former CM Siddaramaiah blamed the saffron party for the collapse. Earlier in the day, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy broke down while delivering a speech in the assembly. He said, "I am an accidental chief minister and had never thought of coming into politics." Kumaraswamy further added that he is not a traitor and had worked honestly.
