Bengaluru, March 5: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday tweeted a video footage which shows Congress leader Belur Gopalakrishna calling for the "assassination of Prime Minister Narendra Modi". The party has appealed the Bengaluru Police Commissioner, along with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), to act against Gopalakrishna for instigating violence.
The clip shared by BJP is extracted from Prajaa TV, a regional new channel. Gopalakrishna, while addressing a gathering, is heard making contentious remarks in Kannada. BJP leader S Prakash, while speaking to a news channel, said the party would decide on whether it would register an official complaint against the Congress leader. The Congress, meanwhile, said it has taken cognizance of the matter and taken action after looking into the case.
Notably, Gopalakrishna is a former MLA from the BJP, who switched sides to the Congress in April last year -- ahead of the assembly elections.
