Bengaluru, May 22: In the latest political development in Karnataka, Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) Alliance today in a meeting discussed about the cabinet formation. The Congress will get 24 ministerial portfolios while the JD(S) will have 12 ministers in the cabinet of 34.
Talking to media, Congres leader KC Venugopal confirmed the news. He said, “Out of 34 ministries, 22 ministries will go with Congress Party and 12 ministries, including CM will be with be with JDS. Portfolio allocation to be decided after floor test.” Congress' G Parameshwara will take oath as the Karnataka Deputy CM and KR Ramesh Kumar will be the Speaker of the Karnataka's Vidhana Soudha. The floor test to prove the majority will take place on May 24.
JD(S) chief HD Kumaraswamy will take oath tomorrow as the Chief Minister of Karnataka tomorrow. Sonia Gandhi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi will attend the oath-taking ceremony. Besides the Congress leaders, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati will also be present at the ceremony.
