Karnataka Cabinet: 96% Ministers Crorepatis, 15% With Serious Criminal Cases; Facts About Team HD Kumaraswamy
According to a report in Association for Democratic Reform (ADR), majority, in fact, 96 per cent of the ministers in Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy's cabinet are millionaires or crorepatis.
The recently concluded Karnataka Assembly Elections 2018, which was full of drama and intrigue, and ended with JD(Secular) leader HD Kumaraswamy becoming the Chief Minister of Karnataka after BS Yeddyurappa resigned within 55 hours, as he was unable to prove majority in the house, has another interesting fact related to it. According to a report in Association for Democratic Reform (ADR), majority, in fact, 96 per cent of the ministers in Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy's cabinet are millionaires or crorepatis.
Also, there are serious criminal charges on seven ministers of HD Kumaraswamy's cabinet and on the Chief Minister himself, says election watchdog ADR data.
Out of the 26 of the 27 ministers who declared their income, 25 are crorepatis. The report by ANI also reveals that N Mahesh of the BSP, is the only leader who is not a crorepati among those who were analysed.
Titled under "Analysis of Criminal Background, Financial, Gender and other details of Ministers in the Karnataka Assembly 2018", the reports bring to light the various facts related to the ministers' including their wealth and criminal cases against them.
The report also gives a comparative analysis of Karnataka's Cabinets over the years i.e 2008 to 2018 to be specific and shows that the Karnataka Cabinet 2008 had 75% crorepatis, Karnataka Cabinet 2013 had 100% crorepatis and the current cabinet has 96% crorepatis as mentioned before.
D. K. Shivakumar (Rs 840 crore), R Shankar (Rs 265 crore) from Karnataka Pragnyavantha Janatha Party, Deshpande Raghunath Vishwanath (Rs 215 crore) from INC, H D Kumaraswamy (Rs 167 crore) from JD(S) and Ramesh Laxmanrao Jarkiholi (Rs 122 crore) from INC are the richest ministers in the cabinet.
The report reveals about the criminal cases against the minister also. The Karnataka Cabinet 2008 had 42% ministers with criminal cases and 17% ministers with declared serious criminal cases. The Karnataka Cabinet 2013 had 28% ministers with criminal cases and 10% ministers with declared serious criminal cases. The current cabinet has 27% ministers with criminal cases and 15% ministers with declared serious criminal cases.
