Kolar, May 7: Accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of looting the people in the name of fuel hike, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday led a protest in Kolar. He also took a bicycle ride and gave a speech standing on a bullock cart as symbolic protest ahead of the Karnataka Assembly Elections 2018. Rahul accused the BJP Government of collecting Rs ten lakh crore in taxes on petrol, LPG and diesel wrongfully. The Congress President also said that the Central government under BJP was not passing on the benefit of the falling international crude prices to common people.
The video of Rahul riding a cycle and taking a bullock cart marked another chapter in the ongoing Karnataka Assembly Elections 2018 campaigning. The run up to the elections has so far seen bitter campaigning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the charge. BJP President Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have also been conducting rallies in Karnataka. Whereas incumbent Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah and Rahul Gandhi have been at the forefront from Congress' side.
