Lucknow, September 24: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday visited his constituency Amethi on Monday and was welcomed as a devotee of Lord Shiva. Gandhi was felicitated by kanwariyas in Amethi and also took part in a puja of Lord Shiva amid chants of 'Bum Bhole'. Earlier this month too, Rahul Gandhi was welcomed in Bhopal of Madhya Pradesh with posters calling him 'Shiv Bhakt'. The posters came days after Gandhi returned from the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Gandhi went on the yatra earlier this month. His visit sparked a controversy with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) calling it 'fake'.

There was a Twitter war between the Congress and BJP over Gandhi's Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. While the Congress shared photographs and videos of Gandhi and even Fitbit data of the Party chief to prove that he was on the yatra, the BJP called the photos photoshopped.

Rahul Gandhi's Amethi Tour

Rahul Gandhi will be meeting locals and taking part in various meetings and events while on his two-day visit to Amethi. The Congress President will meet Rajiv Gandhi Gram Paryojna members and will also unveil rural engineering service projects.

Gandhi will also review the development work done in his constituency and meet social media volunteers. He is also expected to participate in a 'prabhat pheri' that will culminate on Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.
