Chennai, Aug 3: Actor-politician Kamal Haasan, who floated his new party - the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) earlier in the year, said his outfit is geared up to contest in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Haasan claimed that though his party would be entering into the political fray from Tamil Nadu, he is averse to form alliance due his strong ideological grounds.
As graft is the primary issue raised by his party in the past six months, new entrant claims it would be ironical to join hands with the same "corrupt parties" to challenge whom they have entered into the political realm.
"Our party is clear with its ideology of scam-free governance, and this leaves MNM very few alliance choices,” Kamal Hassan told reporters in Chennai.
Pollsters were earlier predicting a tacit understanding between the DMK and MNM, considering the mutual respect exhibited by former's de-facto chief MK Stalin and Haasan towards each other.
Meanwhile, the AIADMK has remained the prime target of all political statements released by Haasan so far.
Haasan has also ruled out a tie-up with the BJP, whom he described as a "divisive force" which could harm the secular and inclusive character of Tamil Nadu.
Speculations, however, are rife whether he could enter into a last-minute pact with smaller parties - PMK, MDMK and others - who are non-aligned either to the DMK or the AIADMK.
Tamil Nadu has a total of 39 Lok Sabha seats, making it the fifth most politically crucial state in the general elections. In 2014, the AIADMK led by late former CM J Jayalalithaa had wrested 37 constitutuencies.
