Kamal Haasan Meets CM HD Kumaraswamy Over Cauvery Water Issue Between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu
The division of Cauvery waters is one of the key points of conflict between Tamil Nadu and its neighbouring state Karnataka.
Bangalore, June 4, 2018: South filmstar turned politician Kamal Haasan met Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy in Bengaluru today. The meeting was reportedly held to discuss the contentious issue of Cauvery river water sharing between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Hasaan, while speaking to media, said the meeting with CM Kumaraswamy was "heartening". The CM also reciprocated the gesture, saying that despite issues between both the state on Cauvery water distribution, they share a cordial relationship.
The division of Cauvery waters is one of the key points of conflict between Tamil Nadu and its neighbouring state Karnataka. Actor-turned-politician Rajnikanth also asked Kumaraswamy to work towards solving the inter-state issue. However, Kamal turned-out to be the first one, who took the people's voice towards the Karnataka CM.
Earlier, Siddaramaiah, the predecessor of Kumaraswamy, who led the Congress government in the state had persistently refused to release the quantum of Cauvery waters to Tamil Nadu as directed by the Supreme Court.
