Hyderabad, May 23: Results for the Kallakurichi Lok Sabha Constituency in Tamil Nadu has been declared by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Gautham Sigamani Pon of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has won the seat. The counting of votes for this constituency began at 8 AM on Thursday, May 23. This is one of the 39 Parliamentary constituencies in Tamil Nadu which went to poll on April 18.  This constituency came into existence following the implementation of delimitation of parliamentary constituencies in 2008. The constituency number of Kallakurichi  is 14 and is not reserved for any category i.e. it falls into the General Category. Three of its Legislative Assembly segments- Rishivandiyam, Sankarapuram and Kallakurichi are in Villupuram district while the other three Legislative Assembly segments: Gangavalli, Attur and Yercaud are in Salem district. In 2019, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has fielded Gautham Sigamani from the Kallakurichi  seat while the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) has given the ticket to L.K. Sudhish. Meanwhile, the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) has fielded Komuki Maniyan from the Kallakurichi  seat.

Tamil Nadu will go to vote in the second phase on April 11. The counting of votes will take place on May 23. In Tamil Nadu, the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) had fielded senior leader Vadivel Ravanan from the Villupuram reserved constituency.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha Polls, Kamaraj. K of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) had won the Kallakurichi seat. Kamaraj won with 533,383 votes defeated  Dravida Munetra Kazhagam (DMK) candidate Manimaran. R.
