K Chandrasekhar Rao Takes Oath as Telangana Chief Minister For Second Consecutive Term

Hyderabad, December 13: Telangana Rashtriya Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, fondly known as KCR by his supporters, took oath as chief minister of Telangana on Thursday for a second consecutive term. Governor ESL Narasimhan administrated the oath to KCR at Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad. TRS leader Mohammad Mahmood Ali also took oath as a minister. He was the deputy chief minister in the previous government.

The newly elected legislators of TRS on Wednesday elected KCR their leader at a meeting held at the Telangana Bhavan, the TRS headquarters. KCR's TRS registered a landslide victory in Telangana assembly elections 2018, the results of which were declared on Tuesday. Winning a thumping majority, the TRS bagged 88 out of 119 seats of the state assembly. The Congress-led People's Front, which was expected to give a tough fight to TRS, managed only 21 seats.

While the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) retained all seven seats it held in the dissolved House, the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) number went down from five to one. Telangana Assembly Elections 2018 Results: K Chandrasekhar Rao, Asaduddin Owaisi Friendship is Now 'Full-fledged Partnership'.

Telangana assembly was dissolved on September 6 on the recommendation of the KCR-led TRS government, more than eight months ahead of the expiry of its term, paving the way for early elections. The gamble for early polls appeared to have paid rich dividends for the TRS, which received the massive mandate in the first general election in the four-year-old state.
