Bhopal, November 1: Trouble mounts for the Congress ahead of the assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh after reports of a verbal spat between Jyotiraditya Scindia and Digvijaya Singh surfaced in media. Both the leaders were engaged in the heated argument over giving tickets to their loyalists during the party meeting to discuss poll strategy. Congress president Rahul Gandhi was also present at the meeting when the incident took place. Gandhi formed a three-member committee comprising Ashok Gehlot, Veerappa Moily and Ahmed Patel to resolve the matter. The meeting to resolve the issue went on till 2:30 in the morning. Since the matter could not be resolved, the committee resumed the meeting at 9 am in the morning. However, the party members refused to speak on the matter. The process of filing the nomination papers for the upcoming assembly elections in the state will start on November 2 and will continue till November 9.

The assembly election in the state will be conducted on November 28. Apart from Madhya Pradesh, four other states – Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram are also for assembly elections this year. Voting for the first phase of Chhattisgarh elections will be held on November 12 in 18 districts and in Northern Chhattisgarh, it will be held on November 20. In Mizoram, voting will take place on November 28. In Rajasthan and Telangana, it will be held on December 7. Meanwhile, counting of votes for all the states will be done on December 11.
