JP Nadda Challenges Rahul Gandhi to Speak 10 Lines on Citizenship Amendment Act (Watch Video)

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) working President Jagat Prakash Nadda on Sunday challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to speak continuously for 10 lines on the provisions of the Citizenship Amendment Act. Nadda said that it was unfortunate that people who have come forward to lead the country have not tried to understand basic things.

New Delhi, December 22: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) working President Jagat Prakash Nadda on Sunday challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to speak continuously for 10 lines on the provisions of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Taking a dig at the scion of the Gandhi family, Nadda said that it was unfortunate that people who have come forward to lead the country have not tried to understand basic things. The BJP working president also lashed out at Gandhi for not speaking against the incidents of violence during anti-CAA protests.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the passage of the act. PM Modi accused the Opposition of spreading lies and misinformation regarding the act. PM Modi said that the central government gave ownership rights to 40 lakh residents of the unauthorised colonies irrespective of their faiths. He also condemned the violence erupted during the protests against the CAA. He also denied reports of building detention centres across the country.

The Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019 was passed by parliament on December 11. After the passage of the bill, protests erupted across the country. The act provides Indian citizenship to non-Muslim migrants including Hindus, Sikhs, Parsis, Christianity, Jains and Buddhist, who are victims of religious persecutions in neighbouring states of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
