New Delhi, January 20: Jagat Prakash Nadda, the working president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is all set to take over party reins from Amit Shah when the saffron party will initiate the process of electing new party chief. JP Nadda, who was made party's working president in June last year, will file his nomination on Monday and is likely to be elected unopposed. He was the first working president of BJP. Nadda has been seen as the choice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the top post due to his decades-long experience and a clean image. According to reports, Nadda's name will be proposed by party's former chiefs and parliamentary board members, Shah, Nitin Gadkari and Rajnath Singh. BJP Central Election Committee chief Radha Mohan Singh said that the nominations for top party role will be filed on January 20 and a contest, if required, will take place on the next day. The saffron party has the convention of electing its president unanimously and without any contest.

Nadda's election as party chief will bring an end to Shah’s tenure of over five-and-a-half years during which the party expanded its footprints like never before. Having risen through party ranks, Nadda has been a member of BJP parliamentary board, its highest decision-making body.

The saffron party follows the Hindu calendar and is very careful of auspiciousness of any time. And this Ekadashi is being regarded the right moment for the new Bharatiya Janata Party chief to take over.
