New Delhi, January 6: A day after being brutally assaulted by a masked mob in the campus, Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) president Aishe Ghosh returned to the institute. While addressing mediapersons and students at the JNU campus on Monday, the students' union chief alleged a collusion between police personnel and administration. JNU Violence Row: Foreign Minister S Jaishankar Says 'There Was No Tukde-Tukde Gang' in The Institute During His Education Years (Watch Video).

Ghosh pinned the onus of violence on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the ideological parent of the BJP. "For the first time in 50 years, RSS goons unleashed violence on students inside the JNU campus," the JNUSU chief alleged.

Ghosh demanded the immediate resignation of JNU Vice Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar, claiming that she had reached out to him immediately after the miscreants were spotted in the campus. "The administration did not take any measure to stop them. There was collusion," she added.

"For the last 4-5 days, some RSS-affiliated professors were promoting violence to break our movement. Are we wrong to ask for safety from the JNU and Delhi Police," she claimed.

The students' union leader said that the armed attack on JNU will not alter the varsity's democratic character. The culture of democracy and debate would only get strengthened in the near future, she said. "Every iron rod used against the students will be given back by debate and discussion. JNU's culture will not be eroded anytime soon. JNU will uphold its democratic culture," Ghosh added.

Over 40, including students and teachers, were injured in the attack by a mob of around 50 miscreants who had barged into the campus on Sunday evening. Even after the Delhi Police was called last night, the mob continued to wreak havoc, the students alleged. The security personnel subsequently conducted a flag march and said that the situation was normal. No arrests in the case have been made so far.
