New Delhi, January 5: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted on the JNU campus violence incident on Sunday and said that "the brutal attack on JNU students & teachers by masked thugs" is shocking and blamed the "fascists in control of nation" for the situation. The former Congress president alleged that the authorities are "afraid of the voices of our brave students" and called the Sunday evening's attack on teachers and students on JNU students by masked goons as a "reflection of that fear." "The brutal attack on JNU students & teachers by masked thugs, that has left many seriously injured, is shocking. The fascists in control of our nation, are afraid of the voices of our brave students. Today’s violence in JNU is a reflection of that fear," tweeted Rahul Gandhi and shared pictures. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also gave his reaction on the violence that took place in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus where a group of masked men allegedly beat up students and vandalised the campus on Sunday evening. The Delhi chief minister said that he is "shocked" to learn about the violence at JNU and raised questions over the safety of students in University campuses.
Two officer-bearers of the Jawaharal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU), including President Aishe Ghosh - who was reportedly hit over the eye with an iron rod, received severe injuries. They accused RSS' student wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) for the rampant violence in the campus. However, the ABVP alleged that left groups started the violence.
