Ranchi, December 23: The counting for high-stake 81-Assembly seats in Jharkhand has begun and in the first trends, Bharatiya Janata Party is leading in 27 seats, while the opposition alliance -- led by including Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Congress -- is gaining around 34 seats. Apart from this, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) is leading in three seats, while Sudesh Mahato' All Jharkhand Students' Union is leading in six seats.

It is to be known that right now, the counting of postal ballot votes is under process by election commission and till now 73 seats have been counted. Among the partners of the Mahagatbandhan (grand alliance) Congress is leading in 11 seats, JMM is leading in 22 seats and Rashtriya Janata Dal with two seat. Incumbent Chief Minister Raghubar Das-led BJP had earlier claimed that it will win more then 65 seats the state this time and would retain the prime post. However, it is too early to say anything as only the ballot votes are being counted and the EVMs are yet to be opened.

In the previous Assembly polls, BJP had won 37 seats, which had made an alliance with AJSU and formed the government in the state. JMM had earlier won 19 seats, while its alliance Congress had won 7 seats. JVM(P) has won 8 seats, while BSP had secured one seat. However, four individual candidates have won the seats. The majority mark to form the government in the state Assembly is 41.
