Ranchi, December 23: Amid the counting of votes by the ECI for the Jharkhand Assembly in process, incumbent Chief Minister Raghubar Das said on Monday that the Bharatiya Janata Party will form the government in state, despite lacking majority in the initial trends against JMM-led alliance. He, however said that he don't believe in trends and it is too early to comment anything as the counting is underway.
Speaking to the media in Jamshedpur, Raghubar Das said, as quoted by news agency ANI, Das said,"These trends are not the final word. There are more rounds of counting to be held. It will not be correct to comment on these trends. I will hold a press conference later in Ranchi." Jharkhand Assembly Election Results 2019 Live News Updates.
As per the trends, Das is leading from Jamshedpur East seat with only 156 votes against independent candidate Saryu Rai. Commenting on this, the Jharkhand CM said, "Had Saryu Rai caused damage, I would not have received the votes, which I did so far. Let me clearly state that we're not only winning but we'll also form govt under the leadership of BJP in the state."
According to the initial trends, Hemant Soren-led alliance is leading with 41 seats, while the BJP is trailing on 30 seats. The self-claimed kingmakers -- Babulal Marandi's JVM and Sudesh Mahato's AJSU -- are leading with three seats each. In the previous Assembly polls, BJP had won 37 seats, which had made an alliance with AJSU and formed the government in the state. JMM had earlier won 19 seats, while its alliance Congress had won 7 seats. JVM(P) has won 8 seats, while BSP had secured one seat. However, four individual candidates have won the seats. The majority mark to form the government in the state Assembly is 41.
