Jaya Prada Joins BJP at Party Headquarters in Delhi, Likely to Contest 2019 Lok Sabha Polls From Rampur
Reports claim that the BJP plans to field Jaya Prada from Rampur seat against Azam Khan.
New Delhi, March 26: Actress turned politician and three time Member of Parliament (MP) Jaya Prada joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday at the party headquarters in Delhi. The BJP plans to give her a ticket from Rampur seat in Uttar Pradesh. Polling in Rampur will take place on April 23, Phase III of the Lok Sabha Elections 2019. Jaya Prada has been a two-time MP from the Rampur seat. She represented the seat till the year 2014. After getting expelled from the Samajwadi Party (SP), Prada contested the 2014 Lok Sabha polls on RLD ticket but lost. Jaya is considered close to Amar Singh, the former confidant of SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav. But both Jaya Prada and Amar Singh were expelled from SP for "anti-party activities."
Reports claim that the BJP plans to field Jaya Prada from Rampur seat against Azam Khan. Azam Khan, a nine-time MLA from Rampur, was recently named the candidate from the Rampur seat by the Mahagathbandhan (Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party alliance ) ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.
Jaya Prada started her political career with the Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh and then joined the Samajwadi Party (SP) in Uttar Pradesh. At the time of joining the party, Jaya Prada said that she is happy to join a national party and looks forward to working for the people. She was welcomed in the party by BJP General Secretary Bhupendra Yadav.
