Jammu & Kashmir: BJP Leader Gul Mohammad Mir Shot Dead by Militants in Anantnag District
Police said that Mir sustained serious bullet injuries in the chest and abdomen and was rushed to a local hospital where the doctors on duty declared him brought dead. He was 60.
Srinagar, May 4: Two days before Anantnag votes in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019, a political worker has been assassinated in the South Kashmir district. The deceased has been identified as Gul Mohammad Mir, a BJP leader, who was shot dead by terrorists in Nowgam village. The killing was reported on Saturday evening, a couple of hours after the sunset.

National Conference leader and former Chief Minister of the state, Omar Abdullah condemned the killing."Ghulam Mohd Mir, office bearer of the BJP in South Kashmir has been shot and killed in Nowgam, Verinag. I condemn this dastardly act of violence and pray for the soul of the departed, Allah Jannat naseeb karey (May Allah grant him place in heaven)," he said.
Mir, who had been campaigning for the BJP in the ongoing polls, had unsuccessfully contested the Assembly elections from Doru constituency in 2008 and 2014.
