Jammu, November 27: The polling for the fourth phase of Panchayat elections in Jammu and Kashmir began at 8 AM and will end at 2 PM on Tuesday. According to details by state chief electoral officer, Shaleen Kabra, the polling will be held at 2,618 polling stations across Jammu and Kashmir. Informing further, Kabra said the voting will be held across 639 polling stations in Kashmir and 1,979 in Jammu division. A total of 5470 candidates are in the fray for 339 Sarpanch and 1749 Panch seats in the fourth phase, while 99 Sarpanchs and 969 Panchs have been elected unopposed in this Phase. The CEO was quoted in a PTI report, the polling stations have been categorised as hypersensitive in the fourth phase including 571 in Kashmir and 206 in Jammu. Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Elections 2018: Polling for Third Phase Ends Peacefully.

Reports inform that the electorate of 4,72,160 will be voting for Sarpanch constituencies, while 3,32,502 will be voting for Panch constituencies. The first phase of Panchayat Polls held on November 17 and a 74.1 per cent voter turnout was recorded across the state including 64.5 per cent in Kashmir and 79.4 per cent in Jammu.

The second phase was held on November 20 and a voter turnout of 71.1 per cent was witnessed in the state. In the second phase, an overwhelming 80.4 per cent polling in Jammu and 52.2 per cent in Kashmir was recorded. Meanwhile, in the third phase, Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a polling percentage of 75.2 per cent which included 55.7 per cent in Kashmir and 83 per cent in Jammu division.
